Tricks for Treats FREE Drop-In Session

FREE drop-in session, no pre-registration required.

Why should kids get to have all the fun at Halloween? Have fun with your dog and teach a few new tricks! Your choice of tricks is limited only by your imagination. Start with some of the standard tricks like shake, rollover, or speak. Challenge yourself and your dog to more complex tricks like “Say your prayers”, “Fire! Stop, drop, and roll” or “3-card monte”.

Basic Manners and Self Control Workshop

Which good manners are most important? Do manners differ in public from the manners we have at home? We will look at behaviors such as greeting strangers, jumping, and barking. We will define and discuss both good and bad manners. Discover how to establish basic self control in your dog.

Tricks for Treats and Games for Goodies Workshop

  • Is your dog bored with performing sit, down and stay over and over?
  • Are you bored with it too?
  • Are you looking for new ways to entertain your dog when the weather outside is not cooperating?

We will discuss and practice various methods for training a variety of tricks. What is luring, shaping and capturing? How can we use them to teach shake, speak, roll over, spin, play dead, fetch and many other tricks? We will also discuss and practice games that you can play indoors or out with your dog to give him or her both physical and mental stimulation. Discover fun ways to prevent boredom and the destructive behavior that can result from it.

No Aggressive dogs and no females in season. Please bring your own chair. If you are attending with your dog, bring a variety of treats to last the entire day.

Managing a Multiple Dog Household Seminar

This class is for families with two or more dogs living in the same household. If you have already done some training with your dogs but now want to learn how to handle multiple dogs at the same time, this class is for you.

This is a NO DOG Seminar. We do need some dogs for demonstrations. Please contact us if you have a dog that you believe would benefit from participating as a demo dog.

CGA Foster and new Adopter Training

Date: Saturday, Sept. 18, 1:30-4:30 pm

Location: Sedalia, about 15 minutes west of Castle Rock

This Training is FREE to all CGA Foster Families. New adopters are welcome. We are waiving our usual fee and asking instead for donations to CGA. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited. Please contact us if you are interested in participating.

You may attend with our without your foster (or newly adopted) dog. We will have a combination of lecture, discussion and hands-on exercises. Dogs will be working some and resting some, so only bring dogs who can handle hanging out with other people and dogs. No dog-aggressive dogs.

Separation Anxiety Workshop

Does your dog show signs of distress when you leave them home alone? We will learn the symptoms of separation anxiety, how to differentiate it from other issues, and what causes it. Discover how to prevent and treat anxiety in your dog.

Leash Manners Workshop

Does your dog drag you on walks? Learn which tools to use and how to use them to get your dog following you. Learn games and exercises that will teach your dog how to walk politely on a leash.

Body Language Seminar

For anyone who wants to learn to better read their own dogs and the other dogs your dog meets when out in public. Learn to read early signs of stress and arousal. Learn to better understand your dog so you can communicate more clearly in your daily interactions. Learn to read your dog’s body language to properly interpret what your dog is saying. If you are currently training your dog, this seminar will help you to train more effectively.

In this seminar, we will be discussing kind, honest ways to help your dog who has a challenging time when near other dogs.

Dog Bite Prevention & Safe Handling Techniques Seminar

We will focus on safe handling techniques and learning to better read dogs to prevent potential dog bites and decrease stress for dogs.

Who should attend? Veterinary clinic and animal hospital staff, vet techs, veterinarians, front desk staff, day care staff, boarding staff, dog trainers, dog walkers, petsitters, groomers, shelter staff, rescue group volunteers, and anyone else who works regularly with dogs.
